A native of Portland, Oregon, soprano Brenda Baker's performing career encompasses a wide variety of styles ranging from opera to contemporary music. As a soloist, Ms. Baker has performed with the Portland Opera, Oregon Symphony, Oregon Ballet Theater, Ernest Bloch Festival and Northwest Children's Theater, In addition to performing in solo and chamber music recitals, Miss Baker was also a finalist in the Luciano Pavarotti International Voice Competition. Of her singing, Opera News wrote, "Brenda Baker made a sparkling Vixen"; David Stabler in The Oregonian said, "Baker simply nailed the piece; singing, chanting and sailing over the steep melodic contours.", and of her performance in OBT's Master's and Moderns concert, Bob Hicks wrote, "The most true drama in sight is on Baker's face as she delivers the musical emotions of Weill's unforgettable "Surabaya-Johnny".

A teacher as well as a performer, Ms. Baker is currently a Music Specialist for the Reynolds School District, teaches music at the MetroArts Kid's Camp, is Chorusmaster for the Oregon Ballet Nutcracker Children's Chorus and teaches private voice lessons at Mt. Hood Community College. She holds a Master of Music Degree in Voice from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education from the University of Arizona. There, in 1984, while studying at the University, Ms. Baker first met Richard Faith. Since then, they have developed both a profound musical relationship and a deep and abiding friendship that has culminated in this-their first recording together.
